WorkLeaving the company
As an employee prepares to leave, here are some key steps to consider:
Employees should make sure their name, address and any other personal information is correct in case we need to communicate during the process. If they’re still an active employee, they’ll only need to update personal information at People at Liberty and this will feed to NetBenefits® and BenefitConnect. Log into the Portal for a full list of direct links to updates to make.
Employees should make sure they understand how benefits will change after they leave the company.
Before their last day, employees should provide their upcoming termination date to a representative so it’s on file.
Employees must talk to their manager about their exit from the company, including submitting a resignation letter (if appropriate), returning company equipment and ensuring information in Time Management is up-to-date. This will help make sure the employee’s final pay and exit from the organization is handled accurately and efficiently.
The employee and/or their eligible dependents may be eligible to continue health coverage for a limited time under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA). A COBRA packet from the BenefitConnect COBRA team will be mailed to your address on file within 30 days of your coverage end date. Learn more by calling the Liberty Benefits Center at 1-800-758-4460.
Employees must review and update beneficiary designations for retirement benefits. Log into the Portal for a full list of direct links to the various beneficiary designations.
Before an employee’s last day at Liberty, they should make sure their important legal documents are up-to-date so they have a plan in place to provide for loved ones. Employees have access to self-help resources for financial documents as well as a no-cost 30 minute legal consultation through the Work Life Solutions (EAP) Plan. If they elected health coverage through COBRA, they can access this benefit beyond the termination date.
