The costs to commute to and from work each day can really add up. Liberty Mutual helps employees save money on those costs by offering the Commuter Benefits program.
How it works
The Commuter Benefits program allows employees to pay for eligible transportation expenses with before-tax payroll deductions (up to IRS limits). Eligible expenses include, among other things, the cost of trains, buses, subways, vanpools and ferries. The program also covers parking expenses incurred at or near work. Expenses related to mileage, tolls, fuel, carpooling and business travel are not eligible for this program.
If an employee signs up by the monthly deadline, their commuter benefit will begin on the first of the following month. The monthly election deadline is the tenth of the preceding month*. For example, if an employee elects the benefit on January 9, their election goes into effect for the month of February. If they elect the benefit on January 20, their election goes into effect for the month of March.
All U.S. employees are eligible to participate in this program.
